About Us

Activities/Achievements in Dental
Laboratory Technology

We have always attempted to ‘give back’ to our dental
community. Both David Tietz and T.G. Hornischer have
held offices in the local ALTEX study club. David has
served as treasurer for the NADL, and serves on the board
of directors for the Southeastern Conference. David has
often participated in the ‘Open Forum’ section of many of
our national meetings. Both David and T.G. make frequent
continuing education presentations for both groups of
dentists and dental technicians. In addition T.G. is a
frequent contributor to several dental technology
magazines, including the Journal of Dental Technology,
and participates in peer reviews from other writers. We
are proud members of the National Association of Dental
Laboratories, The Texas Dental Lab Association, The
Louisiana Dental Lab Association, and The Southeastern
Conference of Dental Laboratories. Centric Dental Lab is
also recognized by the NADL as a Certified Dental
Laboratory.
Innovation and Imagination:
We have tried to always stay ahead of coming trends, by
implementing policies, procedures and services, before
they were mandated or implemented in our industry.
Examples of this would be our disinfection policy, we
mandated an infection control policy in our laboratory
years before we were instructed to do so by the legislative
bodies. Another innovative service was ‘lending library’ of
clinical implant instruments. Our laboratory purchased the
clinical tools necessary for implant restorations and we
would loan them to our clients thus eliminating the need for
them to purchase these tools as they were beginning to
enter the implant area. These are two of the many
examples that we could mention, and we will continue to
attempt to be forward thinking in our services and support
of the dental community.
Growth, Stability and Staying Power
Our laboratory was established in 1979, but its philosophy
and vision was formed several years earlier while David
Tietz and T.G. Hornischer were still in college. While the
laboratory was operated as a single person Crown and
Bridge laboratory initially, word of mouth soon made it
prosper and by 1981 Centric was a Full Service dental
laboratory with four full time employees. By 1997, Centric
had out grown its original 1200 sq. foot building, it was
now too small for its 18 employees. And, all of this growth
had been accomplished by word of mouth, we had yet to
employ a sales represenetive. Centric moved from its
original location to a custom designed and newly
furnished 5500 sq. foot facility, and quickly hosted 25 full
time employees. In addition to the word of mouth
advertising, we have consistently tried to provide for the
future needs of our growing client base. As mentioned
above our lending of implant tools, fabricating display
models and chair side assistance are just a few of our
trend setting, service oriented direction. And, after 27
years we now employ a customer service representative
to act as a liaison between the dental office and our
dental    laboratory.

The Future
We think our best years are yet to come. As our industry
and technology advance we plan to be key players in our
expanding service area. We are consistently training new,
and existing employees in the latest techniques and
technologies. One way that we attempt to stay on the
cutting edge of new technology is to allow testing of new
products in our laboratory, this allows us to try, and to help
develop upcoming products. Also we are involved in
several focus groups on product development. To, we are
staying abreast of the differing needs of the changing client
area as more women and minorities are graduating dental
schools. Of course all of these changes simply reflect our
changing society, so we are now preparing for changes in
the needs of patients, doctors and future employees.
